{"id":2777,"date":"2023-02-15T09:37:36","date_gmt":"2023-02-15T14:37:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ncva-cnaac.ca\/en\/?p=2777"},"modified":"2023-03-24T09:39:35","modified_gmt":"2023-03-24T13:39:35","slug":"one-veteran-one-standard","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncva-cnaac.ca\/en\/ncva-update\/one-veteran-one-standard\/","title":{"rendered":"One Veteran \u2013 One Standard"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"row\"><div class=\"small-12\">\r\n\r\n<p> <strong>February 15, 2023 &#8211;<\/strong> The National Council of Veteran Associations (NCVA) continues to take the position that there is much to do in improving veterans&#39; legislation so as to address the financial and wellness requirements of Canada&#39;s veterans&#39; community. This is particularly so with respect to the Pension for Life (PFL) provisions originally announced in December 2017 and formally implemented on April 1, 2019.<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nIt has become self-evident that the greater majority of disabled veterans are not materially impacted by the PFL legislation in that the new benefits under these legislative and regulatory amendments have limited applicability \u2013 indeed, some seriously disabled veterans are actually worse off.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nIn our considered opinion, this PFL policy fails to satisfy the Prime Minister&#39;s initial commitment in 2015, in response to the Equitas lawsuit, to address the inadequacies and deficiencies in the New Veterans Charter\/Veterans Well-being Act (NVC\/VWA) and continues to ignore the &quot;elephant in the room&quot; that has overshadowed this entire discussion.\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Read more in <a href=\"http:\/\/espritdecorps.ca\/perspectives-1\/one-veteran-one-standard\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Esprit de Corps<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"row\"><div class=\"small-12\">February 15, 2023 &#8211; The National Council of Veteran Associations (NCVA) continues to take the position that there is much to do in improving veterans&#39; legislation so as to address the financial and wellness requirements of Canada&#39;s veterans&#39; community.
