NCVA Update

2016 NCVA Annual Meeting

The NCVA Annual Meeting was held in Toronto on November 23, 2016. It was an extremely successful session, with a thorough discussion on the Legislative Agenda emanating from NCVA, which was unanimously approved by the member organizations in attendance.

The NCVA Chairman Brian N. Forbes and Vice-Chairs Derrill Henderson and Gene Heesaker were re-elected by acclamation.

A review of the history of NCVA was a highlight, and also informative for the new member organizations and representatives in attendance. It traced the origins of the organization to the early 1930's when five organizations collaborated to form the initial NCVA structure. This was largely spearheaded by The War Amps and the Sir Arthur Pearson for the War Blinded, who were then joined by the War Pensioners of Canada, the Canadian Corps Association and the Army Navy and Airforce Association. We now have 64 member organizations involved in NCVA, which cover a wide and diverse constituency of veteran stakeholders.
